Wow, this year I met with Augmented Reality and QR codes for the first time and realised how close we are to a mobile commerce revolution.

The first time I saw a QR code was when I tried to download an app for my android smartphone and it wanted me to take a picture of a barcode with my phone from the computer screen. I thought it was a bit of a one off for geeky techno types. Then I heard more about it from an internet marketeer and looked around to find one on the new Waitrose advert. Yikes, it is true, it is really starting to happen and I can see the benefits for companies and events going forward.

Augmented Reality is even more Sci-Fi as it’s a layer on your smart phone that allows you to use the camera lens to survey the area you are in and find a dentist or pub or restaurant of whatever is listed that you request and your phone will direct your steps there. One I saw was where you surveyed the landscape and saw what properties were for sale and which agent were dealing with them.

Freaky but watch this space!
